Fever

Rugrat stayed at home with Daddy today. She has a fever since Sunday. She coughed funny and had a runny nose. RugratDaddy looked into her mouth and noticed that her molars were coming in. Yesterday we were told by the daycare that her fever was so bad that she was shaking. Today she got to stay home and enjoyed her time away from other kids.

Mirror Lake

Rugrat loved Mirror Lake. She liked to dig her hands in the dirt, said "Dirty. Wash hands," then ran off to the lake to clean up.

The water was so cold, only RugratDaddy was brave enough to go into the water with the girls.

The hike was a bit long for this little girl. She wanted to get picked up all the time.

Lower Yosemite Falls

We took a weekend trip to Yosemite. It was nice. Too crowded. And buggy. Fortunately, only the RugratParents got bitten.

Because of this little girl, we only did easy hikes. Today we went to Lower Yosemite Falls.

A tired Rugrat after a day's hike.

We spent the night in Merced. It was an eye-opening experience. First, we didn't get to the hotel until 8:45PM. We asked the front desk where to eat and were informed that Carrows next door closed in 15 minutes, but we might want to try downtown. Mind you, Carrows is located on Motel Drive, next to half a dozen of motels; one would think it ought to stay open 24/7.

So we flipped through the yellow book and thought that IHOP would be a good choice. We went downtown, found IHOP, and noticed that it was already closed. On a Saturday, a little after 9PM, IHOP was closed. It was shocking. We drove around a little and realized that most places closed at 9PM on Saturday. What a sad little town. We finally settled on Applebee's, which has liquor license, so it stayed open until midnight. It was a hip, happening place. All the families with little kids and all the couples on a date all gathered here at Applebee's, in Merced, on Saturday night.

We would not send our girls to UC Merced.
